FAST: Contours

Note: After you display the data, you may annotate the data within FAST, this includes adding a legend and text.

Simple Contours

To display contours of data that you have read, start the "Surfer" module (use the "Surferu" module if your data is unstructured) from the "Viewer" module. You will see the following.

In the "View Window", you will should see a mesh of your data. If not, click on the "Find Objects" button in the "Viewer" and zoom in or out if necessary.

Now, pull down the "Render" menu of the "Surfer" to "Contour Lines", you should see something similar to the following.

To fill in the colors, pull the "Render" menu down to "Smooth Polygons", you should the shaded contours. Here is an example.

You can control the number of contour levels and the contour min and max. To do so, pull the "Panels" menu of the "Surfer" down to "Contours ...", then click on the value that you wish to change. Be sure to press return after you have entered the new number.

Other Contours

You may display both shaded contours and contour lines at the same time. Here is an example.

Here is a general procedure to draw contour lines on top of shaded contours.
